Excitable heart: Perhaps you're referring to palpitations which can be due to atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, ventricular rhythm disorders, etc. In turn, this could be due to innate heart rhythm issues, salt & mineral imbalances or excess thyroid (hyperthyroidism). Blood work could reveal latter two while event monitor could monitor heart rhythm over extended period of time if symptoms don't occur daily.
