High BP is serious: High blood pressure is always a serious condition when untreated. It can cause strokes, intracerebral bleeding, cardiac injury and heart failure... Whether it is an emergency depends on the symptoms, how high the BP is and how fast it has risen. When symptoms such as headache or nausea occur, it is likely that the BP is significantly elevated and requires immediate attention.

USUALLY: High blood pressure "per se" does not "cause" symptoms (precisely why its such a potentially dangerous disease)...unless you LOOK FOR IT ..blood pressure screening programs you don't find it! Your symptoms may be due to the medications you are taking , anxiety about your Blood Pressure, or something altogether different Consult with your PCP (Primary Care Provider) Hope this helps! Dr Z
