Consult endo doc: The vast majority of type2 diabetics are obese and thus highly likely/virtually all have some Insulin resistance--need more Insulin to do the same job. There are newer meds which may help, such as victoza (liraglutide) or byetta/bydureon injectables. Wt loss will help. Bariatric surgery in selected cases can be very effective. Consult endocrinologist/diabetic doc. Good luck.

Sounds complicated: Insulin always works. So something else is not right here. She may have a problem with technique ( drawing, injecting, etc) / with the Insulin (storage, type, etc.) or perhaps something entirely different. She needs coordinated care between a dm educator and physician who can jointly understand why her bg are not controlled with the best therapy we have.
