A member asked:

My todler is over 1 year old and i am still breastfeeding a couple times a day. would it be safe if i took .5mg of xanax (alprazolam)?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Is not safe: 0.5mg of Alprazolam or Xanax (alprazolam) is not too much. Thec risc of breast feeding it wiill depend if it is a one time use or a chronic treatment?. There will be traces of it in the breast milk which the baby would ingest. Again if it's a one time it will be negligible, of no consequences but if you planning on chronic xanax (alprazolam) use, better stop breast feeding now. One year is a good run anyway.
