Determine cause: Chronic dry cough is most commonly due to 3 conditions: asthma, post-nasal drip, or GERD (heartburn). You might have one or a combination of all three. Post-viral cough is also very common and can last for weeks. Further workup by allergist is helpful as they can perform a more detailed assessment including skin testing and pulmonary function testing. Treatment will depend on cause.
