It's possible: Asthma is heavily influenced by genetics and can vary in intensity & form within the same family. Your asthma can be so mild you never wheeze but cough/feel tight or so intense you require several meds daily to get by. Mild forms can be detected with specific lung function tests. If it was going to be a bad/serious form you would have known by middle childhood.
