ANA: ANA is a test for antinuclear antibodies which essentially checks for presence of a connective tissue disease. The normal result is negative. However, different connective tissue diseases are associated with a different frequency of ANA positivity. So, it's not a "stand alone" test - your doctor will evaluate the clinical picture combined with results to diagnose what's going on. Hope that helps!
