Doubt epididymitis: Even with a "thickened" epididymis with tenderness, epididymitis is unlikely. Most epididymitis causes enlargement and severe tenderness of the entire testicle. That said, if it feels abnormal, see a doctor. At your age, almost all epididymitis is due to gonorrhea or chlamydia. If tests for those STDs are negative, an no penile discharege, epididymitis is unlikely. Follow your doctor's advice.
