Gastric acid reflux: Hello Carla, The most common cause of the symptoms you describe is gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), commonly known as heart burn. Consider trying over the counter ranitidine, omeprazole, Tums (calcium carbonate) or Maalox. Avoid foods that worsen your symptoms. Pregnancy could also cause similar symptoms, so make sure you take a pregnancy test. If these measures don't help, see your primary care for testing.
