Conjunctivitis?: It would be surprising if your eye has shrunk. Maybe you have swelling around the eye, making the eye seem smaller by comparison. Along with "sandy" feeling, you may have conjunctivitis, i.e. inflammation of the surface of the eye, eyelids, etc. Also called pink-eye. Most cases are not serious, but sometimes serious. See doctor if it lasts more than a week or immediately if any pain.
