See your dentist: Your dentist can take a look and let you know if anything is unusual. A good rule of thumb is if a condition persists for more than two weeks or recurs regularly you should get it evaluated.

Nasty: Just exactly what is it you are feeling with your tongue. Is it rough, raised uneven. Hard to tell from your description exactly what's wrong. Why don't you have your Dentist examine you, not only visually but also palpated the tissues, and review your recent medical history. That's a better place to start than the computer.

Feels nasty?: Many possibilities here. What you "cannot see" might be visible and apparent to the trained eye of a dentist. Also need to take a medical and dental history. We can only guess without any further information. Either wait it out awhile or see a dentist for a consultation asap while it's still bothering you.
