If human heart regeneration becomes possible, would the heart of a person with a defect likely regenerate the defect?...

Cardiac regeneration: Regenerating healthy heart muscle is a major objective of cardiovascular researchers around the world. Our group & others have shown that stem cells have the potential to help heal damaged hearts. It's early in the development of this new therapy, & we have much yet to learn. Repairing specific cardiac defects with regenerative medicine may be possible by delivery to the right part of the heart.

NO: If regeneration is possible (for example using stem cells) the cardiac tissue should be free of defects HOWEVER many heart defects are STRUCTURAL and "regeneration" will have to be quite a bit advanced to actually regenerate the entire heart !!!!! Hope this helps! Z
