Is it likely for people's heart to get smaller and stop beating?

Yes: All hearts eventually stop beating. We all know that. Getting smaller is unusual but could happen under certain circumstances such as repair of an acutely, severely leaking valve. Hearts don't generally spontaneously get smaller. Getting smaller is a sign of health, not of disease .Getting smaller doesn't cause hearts to stop.
