Beta HCG: A pregnancy test measures a hormone called beta HCG which rises progressively in pregnancy. After a pregnancy ends, beta HCG levels drop by 1/2 about every 2 days, but highly sensitive pregnancy tests can still turn positive for up to 2 months thereafter. Depending on how many weeks along you were at the time of the miscarriage, it often takes about that many weeks to test negative (up to 8).
