A member asked:

Can physiatrist tell if inflammation in si joint area during injection not shown on mri ? i have been given conflicting info don't know who to trust

A doctor has provided 1 answer

SI joint: pain can be difficult to diagnose on exam and imaging studies can be normal even when the joint is a cause of pain. Injecting the joint with lidocaine and steroids, and seeing if it helps, can help to pinpoint the joint as a cause of pain.
