Brush and floss: Brush and floss is the only requirement. When healthy, the gum should be flat, light pink color, and rigid, not soft, roll, round margin. The gum should not bleed.

Don't toughen: Hopefully your gums are soft. Diseased tissues require brushing, flossing & antibacterial mouthwash. If your gums are inflamed or you have active periodontal disease, i strongly recommend a periodontal examination with a board-certified periodontist for treatment & home care instruction.

Gums: Overly aggressive or improper brushing and/or flossing can cause gum damage. If your gums are receding or sore or bleeding you require professional care. Please see your General Dentist or a Specialist Periodontist to address your problems and make sure that you are not inadvertently causing damage.
