Rota virus vaccine : There is 2 kinds of rota virus vaccine one is given in 2 doses at 2 & 4 mos of age & the other in 3 doses to be completed before 6 mos of age, your child missed the chance to get the vaccine but unfortunately there in no other vaccine for older children, hopefully he mi get some immunity from the previous infection that he had. Try to keep up with the rest of his immunizations. Good luck.

Targeted vaccines: The rotavirus vaccine was developed and tested to use in early infancy. That is the age group/size most likely to suffer dehydration/hospitalization from an infection. The older/larger kids have less risk. While the vaccine might help the older kid avoid such infections, they tend to be milder. Your worry is appropriate, but we have dealt with this germ for decades with no vaccine at all.
