A member asked:

Can chiropractors fix cervical herniated discs or can only surgery do that? what do chiropractic adjustments provide to someone with this problem?

Dr. Edward Hellman answered

Specializes in Orthopedic Surgery

Improve symptoms: A herniated disc can heal on its own approximately 80-90 percent of the time, and yet it is one of the more common conditions we do surgery for. The goal of non- operative care is to improve the symptoms of a disc herniation long enough that the herniation heals without surgery. Nonsurgical options include rest, medications, therapy, traction, chiropractic care, and various types of injections.
