I sometimes have flashes of pain in my chest that is followed by pain in the neck, cold and numb feet and sometimes arm, all on the left side.

You need to go to: the Emergency room to get checked out for heart disease. You may have been having heart attacks, or aortic dissection, pulmonary embolism, or circulation problems on the left side.
