My mother told me she use to get oral thrush when she was younger. i got it for the first time couple weeks ago. could it be hereditary?

No: The germ that triggers thrush is in our environment everywhere. It is a component of everyone's poo and it gets there through your mouth. All it needs to grow on any body surface is moisture, food (generally glucose) and chance exposure to the germ. Some people have more problems with it than others for a variety of reasons, but this is not a hereditary disease.
