Adult ADHD: Diagnosing ADHD in adults for the first time requires a careful history and evaluation to document onset in childhood. If childhood onset not clear, other causes for symptoms must be ruled out. Neuropsychologcal testing may be useful to clarify cognitive issues. Medications may be stimulants or non-stimulants. In addition, behavioral and coping strategies are often effective. I hope this helps.
