Always possible...: ... but her surgeon assessed her and said no infection, right? She may have actually caught the flu.

Signs of infection: If you are running a fever, having flu-like symptoms, or excruciating pain, you should see your surgeon for post-op appointment. These are possible signs of a post surgical infection.

Infection/flu: Your sister may have both. Insist that she actually return to Treating Dentist or Oral Surgeon to evaluate...may have infection/dry socket, which requires treatment. Additionally she may have flu (did she get flu shot) and should be evaluated by General Physician. Be proactive. Make sure she actually sees both.
