A member asked:

How can steroids affect the body and the brain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Steroids are diouble: They cut both ways. We use them for brain swelling from any cause especially if there is tumor in the brain. But steroids have bad side effects like, fluid retention, swelling of the face, increase in blood sugar and weakened proximal muscles of the arms and legs. So we like to use them only when they are essential and use the lowest dose necessary..
