Depends: good for you for being proactive about your cardiac care especially since you are of South Asian descent (CAD equivalent per ACC). Ideal BP < 130/80 or equal to it. Having said that, before starting antihypertensive med, a sincere effort to live heart healthy lifestyle ought to be made first for atleast 6 months and see if BP improves that way. Low salt, low fat diet and exercise, ideal weight .
