A member asked:

Is it possible to save someone infected with rabies who is experiencing only localized symptoms aroung the bite area (paresthesia, numbness)? does it mean that the virus has already reached the brain, or is the vaccine still efective at that time?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

To my knowledge there are only a couple of people worldwide who have survived rabies & they were neurologically devastated. Once symptoms start there is no treatment that reverses/cures the disease. Treatment while they live is supportive/comfort.
