Thyroid cancer: The thyroid is a butterfly shaped gland that sits in the low middle part of your neck. The gland is deep to the strap muscles and sits right on the trachea itself. In fact, there is a very vascular portion of the thyroid that holds it closely to the trachea called Berry's ligament. Cancers of the thyroid gland can not only attach to the trachea, but sometimes that can also invade into it-rare.
