Yes, but: Yes but the overwhelming majority of thyroid cancers (are papillary thyroid cancer) which has very good 20 year survival rate and are not really life threatening if they are treated appropriately (even if they spread to the lymh nodes). These patients often die from other causes. There are4 types of thyroid cancer fortunately the most aggressive and life threatening type is also the least common.
