My father has uncontrolled dm ( fbs 13 ) he has been suffering from constipation for last 1 month.stool colour is green.is it a matter of concern?

DM and constipation: Change in bowel habits in an individual > 50 should prompt a colonoscopy. May be diet too little fiber( barley oats ,lentils ,avocados) ,too little fluids ( need 2-3 liters/day water /gstorade juice ,teas) but can be other pathologies. Diabetics get gastroparesis, the DM affects nerves and so bowel moves slower . Try Reglan (metoclopramide) f/u w/ doc
