The heart is: affected by the pressure inside your chest cavity. Blood flow in the heart and other factors are changed with respiration. In addition, when you exhale your chest cavity becomes smaller and I suspect your ribs and tissues are closer to your heart making it easier to feel your heart beat. This is all probably normal physiology.
