Erosive esophagitis : Although the erosions in your esophagus are likely to heal in several weeks on Protonix, (pantoprazole) the underlying GERD that caused the erosions will still be present and will probably need to be treated long term. If the GERD is untreated, it is likely that the esophagitis may recur. Follow anti-reflux precautions and stay on your medications as prescribed by your doctor. Good luck.
