Excess skin: Excess skin accumulation really varies from patient to patient during weight loss. There are treatments available such as velashape, laserlipo to tighten this lax skin. Consult a dermatologist or plastic surgeon for options.

Depends: The amount of weight lost will have more of an impact than the rate at which it is lost. Excess skin is related to skin elasticity, and is more likely if you are older, smoke, or have more lifetime sun exposure.

I am losing weight, but how can I avoid keeping all the excess skin?

It may or may not: Be possible. The older you are the more you are apt to have this problem due to lack of elasticity of skin. Lose at a slow rate and stay physically active. Surgery is an option if excess skin is really significant. Take care.

Morbid obesity?: Except for extreme cases of obesity, a well-paced diet/exercise program should result in a slow and steady loss that has minimal if any excess skin. In the extreme cases, I expect the fat is no less attractive than loose skin and worse for health. Work w/ experts on a plan.

Lose weight: First of all do not try and lose weight quickly. You will not feel yourself. 2-4 lbs weight loss a month is what you should aim for. If you lose weight slowly the "excess skin" should get much less.

I'm losing weight pretty regularly. How can I avoid keeping all the excess skin?

Exercise and keep: weight loss slow to moderate. As you age - there will be less elasticity in your skin with higher likelihood of extra skin with marked weight loss. Surgical consultation is also an option. Take care.
