It should be: the OPPOSITE since LOW IRON can cause heavy periods! Thus I have no idea as to why and suggest you consult your OB-GYN for possible answers! Sorry I can't be of more help! Dr Z

Heavy periods: I personally have not heard an affiliation with iron tablets causing increased bleeding, I think this is just coincidence. It's likely you have low platelets developing in the later part of your period that makes your bleed more. Platelets are cells that help with slowing and stopping down bleeding.
