Tooth infection: Any kind of infection can cause pain and swelling in a lymph node that is close. That's really part of the purpose of lymph nodes. The pain in a lymph node is usually due to rapid swelling that occurs as it is fighting your infection. As the infection gets better and is treated, the lymph node should go down. Sometimes it will stay increased in size and it may need some treatment.

Infection: Lymph nodes act as infection traps to prevent spread of infection, as from an abscessed tooth. Treatment for an abscessed tooth means either root canal or extraction. You may need antibiotics to boost the effectiveness of your immune system. Call your treating Dentist for advice.
