I have been coughing a lot. back of my neck hurts when i cough and my head is throbbing. also weird pains all over head. could this be from a cold?

Bronchitis : It could be bronchitis. That may be accompanied by sore throat, sinus symptoms and pain and runny nose which could be a cold accompanying bronchitis. Likely to be viral with no need for antibiotics. Take acetaminophen two to three times daily, drink fluids, rest and it should improve.

Probably: When your neck and head hurt acutely you should probably see a doctor urgently...Meningitis is the probable diagnosis, although some viral entities cause similar inflammatory processes. Bacterial meningitis, though rarer, can be deadly. If you talk to your doc they may be able to figure how emergent your condition is. Please see or talk to someone ASAP. Get well soon.

Particularly if your neck is stiff and you have a fever, yes it could be meningitis also.
