YES AND NO: Clots themselves can cause severe cramping when expelled. They are not a problem and usually can be treated by taking aleve (naproxen) prior to menstruation. Execssive clotting and very heavy flow can indicate fibroids in the uterus and can lead to anemia. Go to your gyn for evaluation and treatment.
