A member asked:

Once you have mrsa once, does it stay dorment on your skin forever? i am getting different answers from medical professionals...

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not quite: MRSA often takes up residence in your nose--it lives happily there without causing problems. So even if you take antibiotics to treat an infection elsewhere, it may not kill the MRSA in your nose. But nothing is forever! If you've had more than one MRSA infection, or it "runs in the family," you might be a candidate for *intranasal* antibiotics to try to get rid of it. Ask your doctor about it.
