A member asked:

I recently had a full blood count to check for an infection and my platelets level have consistently come back critically high, what should i do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Critically high?: Ask your physician to double-check you for mild iron deficiency, which often raises the platelets high before it causes anemia. If this is not the cause, and you seem otherwise healthy, the question will be whether to check for your essential thrombocythemia's genetic change or simply watch you. High platelets alone seldom present much danger.
