Marine sittups: One way to exercise the abdominal muscles without moving the pelvis is to do "marine sittups". These are done lying on back and clasping hands behind head. Next, the head and shoulders are lifted off the floor, but there is no bending (jack knifing) at the waist. In this way, the pelvic girdle is not activated to motion.
