Generic vs. specific: antidepressant differences is a question you need to ask your pharmacist about. He/she may know more about that than your doc. Generics: Sometimes there can be differences in the way people respond because of the carrier. For instance some one might not be sensitive to the actual active part of the medication but could have a reaction to other additives/chemicals in the compound.

Yes, the strength: Generics usually are required to be within 20% of the defined milligrams on each tablet. For example, if you are on 10 mg of a medicines, than you can be taking somewhere between 8mg up to 12 mg of the medicines. That means that depending on the manufacturer, your dose may not be consistent every time you refill it. Most of the times patients don't notice it but sometime it can make a difference.
