Mood stabilizers: Mood stabilizers are used to treat bipolar disorder. Lithium and depakote would be two examples of mood stabilizers but there are others, depending on symptoms, and depending on what works for the patient.

No biological marker: There are no biological markers for the diagnoses of bipolar disorder or for that matter any of the diagnoses of the psychiatrists. Bipolar disorder is therefore a subjective label of psychiatry. Furthermore, the psychiatric drugs have a myriad of potentially very serious side effects. I therefore always suggest a healthy lifestyle with good nutrition to prevent & treat unstable states of mind!
