2 weeks since gum surgery for new crown. taking pain medication, advil (ibuprofen) every 6 hours. sometimes pain wakes me. is this normal?

Not at all: See the Surgeon ASAP for follow-up. You should be on nothing stronger than warm salt water rinses. Get in there tomorrow. Good Luck.

Call dentist: Call your dentist to check. Also ask for prescription strenghth ibuprofen. It's a lot cheaper than over the counter Advil and it's safer. It is easier on your stomach to take one big pill than 2-3 small ones, so less contact with stomach lining. Only take it with food (but no dairy) and don't take if you have nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abd. pain either. Talk to your dentist.
