Common....: Things are common. Basing the answer purely on epidemiological data, the death was most likley due to a heart attack. Depending on the exact type of heart disease, certain medications, including seroquel (quetiapine) can interfere with the hearts electrical activity and lead to sudden cardiac death.

Not likely!: Athersclerosis takes years to develop. Obviously there were risk factors that had not been dealt with. Seroquel (quetiapine) can cause weight gain, but the fact he previously had a heart attack, suggest that his arteries were obstructed four years ago. Sorry for your loss!

See below.: Sudden cardiac death is one of the most common causes of death esp in people who have known heart disease. Seroquel (quetiapine) would have nothing to do with this.

Sudden death: I am so sorry for your terrible loss! seroquel (quetiapine) can increase risk of sudden death from abnormal heart rythms when taken at a high dose and in combination with other medications that affect electrical conduction in the heart. From the information you give another heart attack is the most likely cause of death.

Cant tell but --: Seroquel (quetiapine) can cause metabolic changes that can increase your lipids and increase risk of diabetes which in turn can effect other systems like heart and brain. So, if your father took seroquel (quetiapine) 4 yrs ago and has been taking it all this time then it may have contributed. Why was he put on seroquel (quetiapine) ? Elderly people should be placed on seroquel (quetiapine) very carefully.

Heart history likely: So sorry you lost your dad. A history of heart attack and numb legs means probable coronary and peripheral artery disease, often known as "clogged arteries". Blockages (caused by cholesterol) in arteries interrupt blood flow cutting off oxygen to heart muscles that die. Seroquel (quetiapine) can increase cholesterol levels. Treatment is a balance of risks: using medication vs. Not treating diseases.
