Your doctor's call: The LDL's a bit higher than you may want it to be. Why not make friends with some fitness buffs, hit the exercise circuit daily, and see how things are in two months? Different physicians will handle this differently.

Probably OK: There's a lot of controversy about the numbers on the lipid panel. That test has relatively poor quality information. A much better test is called NMR lipoprofile. With the information that you gave I would not be concerned. An HDL over 60 for women (50 for men) is considered protective. The LDL is not a directly measured value so it's pretty worthless. An ideal total is most likely around 220.
