Viral infection: Hi Shreya, Sorry you are going through this. It sounds miserable! It could be any number of viral infections even Mononucleosis in which case antibiotics are NOT recommended. Most viral infections are self limiting but may take several days to turn the corner. Cold sores (fever blisters ) take up to 10 days to clear. Make sure you get plenty of fluids.

Most likely viral. If: there are sores in your mouth, they could be canker sores, also known as aphthous ulcers, which tend to come with stresses to the body(illness, anxiety, hormonal changes).Sores on the lips are more likely herpes. If you've never had those before either, all of your symptoms may be your first episode of herpes or a herpes like virus, which typically causes the other symptoms.See your doctor to be sure.

Possibly Cold Sores: I suspect the sores may be aphthous ulcers or 'cold sores'. They are caused by a virus and come out when your system is under stress. They will go away without treatment in 7 - 10 days. If they are painful apply Chloraseptic liquid available at your drug store. Do not use benzocaine as it may burn the tissue and make it worse. If they haven't gone in 2 weeks, see your dentist.

Seasonal Flu: Stay hydrated, get enough rest and and use OTC decongestants. If it does not resolve in 10-14 days, or it keeps getting worse see your doctor.
