Uh oh!: If the bite is now spreading and the swelling has increased, if taking Benadryl (diphenhydramine) doesn't help significantly, you may have an infection in the skin, called cellulitis. This is very serious when it's in the head, face or neck. It it responds to the Benadryl (diphenhydramine), it is likely just a local reaction to the bite and is not as big a deal. If it doesn't, call your doc right away, or go to an ER. Generic is OK
