Thyroid cancer: Chances are low, but they certainly aren't zero. Some thyroid cancers run in families, so ask your folks if anyone has any kind of thyroid cancer. If you have a lump in your thyroid, definitely get it checked out with an ultrasound and even a needle biopsy. Thyroid cancers can be treated and even cured, if it's the right kind. Early diagnosis and treatment are key.
