It sounds like: you are reading a report, possibly from your pap smear. Coccobacilli are bacteria. It is a general name for many of the usual bugs/flora found in the vaginal tract. It refers to cocci--bacteria with a spherical, ovoid or generally round shape. The "shift" terminology indicates there may be more of a certain type than usually seen. This may indicate bacterial vaginosis, but more tests are needed.
