I have been sick with cold for 3 weeks now. i went to a walkin last week and they told me to take advil (ibuprofen) cold and sinus. why am i not getting better??

See answer: OTC cold medication is for symptom relief, not to make the cold go away sooner. Antibiotics won't help a cold(which is caused by a virus). Heavy yellow/green nasal discharge lasting >10-14 days, or increasing pain in one sinus area or high fever, indicates a secondary bacterial infection that needs antibiotics. The cough of a cold is due to bronchitis and can last 3-4 weeks.
