It should work,: ...but it is likely to mess up your periods. Breakthrough bleeding & spotting are common when you use the Pill this way, especially in the first few cycles. Your periods will return to normal when you return to your usual pill schedule. If you want to have fewer periods, consider an extended cycle contraceptive that has 84 active pills followed by 7 placebo pills.
