Hard to say: Medications are often a cause of confusion, especially sleeping pills and other benzodiazepines. Other problems can cause confusion, including electrolyte disturbances and infection. Any time there is new onset of confusion, it is important to be evaluated right away! Call her doc or take her to an ER to be sure it is not something easily treatable.
